The preschool and kindergarten years are a wonderful time to introduce your child to a foreign language. At this stage, foreign languages can often be taught informally through fun books, songs, audio CDs, and videos. Some great online and computer-based programs are also available to introduce your child to a foreign language at this stage. There are also some excellent foreign languages homeschool curriculums available for children in this age range. Common foreign languages that preschoolers and kindergartners learn are Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, and American Sign Language, though there are programs available to introduce your young children to other languages, as well.
