This section includes our recommendations for homeschool curriculums for high schoolers as well as supplementary educational resources for students in this age group. We encourage you to have your students look at these recommendations with you.
Homeschooling a high schooler can take many different forms depending on your student’s personality and goals. Is she college-bound or planning to step right into the workplace after graduation? Does he participate in extracurricular activities at the local high school or is he dually enrolled, completing courses both at the public school and at home? You will need to research the graduation requirements in your state as you make a plan for homeschooling your high school student.
In the high school years, learning blossoms and intellectual curiosity matures. Take advantage of the wide variety of subjects offered by homeschool curriculum publishers as you nurture your student’s developing interests and help prepare him for college and beyond. Does your student love learning about the Middle Ages? Give him a full-year Medieval History curriculum – an option that wouldn’t be possible in most public schools. Is your high schooler a budding painter? Try enrolling her in an art class at the local community arts center.
