Math is undoubtedly one of the most important subjects in which children need to gain competence. A child’s ability to succeed in secondary school and later on in life in math and related subjects (such as science, technology, and engineering) is largely dependent on that child’s having attained a firm foundation in, and confidence toward, mathematical principles during the elementary years.
Yet math can often be an intimidating subject for homeschoolers. Many children struggle with the subject, often because their individual learning styles are at odds with traditional math teaching methods or because they simply lack confidence when it comes to math. Many parents are also overwhelmed when it comes to teaching this subject to their children. Sometimes these parents were themselves never taught math principles adequately, and so they aren’t sure how to approach the subject with their children.
Fortunately, there are many excellent math curriculum options available to homeschoolers, many of which are tailored to different learning styles.
